River Heights

Tree-lined streets, timeless character homes

All neighbourhoods

River Heights is one of Winnipeg's established, prestigious residential neighbourhoods in the south-central part of the city, framed by the Assiniboine River to the north and stretching south toward Taylor Avenue. It's best known for its mature elm canopy, generous lots, and character homes built largely from the early 1900s through the 1960s. The area has a settled, family-oriented feel with the boutiques and cafes of Academy Road and the patios of nearby Corydon Avenue close at hand.

Highlights

  • Stately character homes (Craftsman, Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival) on tree-lined streets, with grand residences along Wellington Crescent overlooking the Assiniboine River
  • Academy Road's strip of boutiques, cafes and restaurants; named after St. Mary's Academy near the Maryland Bridge
  • Corydon Avenue's lively patios and dining nearby, plus the Corydon Community Centre for year-round recreation
  • Grant Park Shopping Centre (including McNally Robinson Booksellers), the Pan Am Pool, the River Heights Public Library, and neighbourhood parks
