North Kildonan

Established, leafy and family-rooted in northeast Winnipeg

All neighbourhoods

North Kildonan is a long-established residential community in northeast Winnipeg, running north of Munroe Avenue toward the Perimeter Highway with the Red River along its east side. It's known for quiet, tree-lined streets, generous lots, and a strong, multi-generational sense of community that traces back to its early-20th-century roots as a rural municipality (it became part of Winnipeg in 1972). The feel is settled and suburban rather than flashy, which is much of its appeal.

Highlights

  • Green space is a defining feature: nearby Kildonan Park (home to the open-air Rainbow Stage, walking paths, a duck pond/skating area and the Witch's Hut), plus the Bunn's Creek trail corridor and Kilcona Park to the northeast for walking and cycling
  • Mature trees, wide lots and well-kept gardens give the streets an established, settled character
  • Everyday shopping and services along arterials such as Henderson Highway, Springfield Road and Lagimodiere Boulevard, with parks, rinks and community-association programming nearby
  • Active community associations run skating, summer camps and seasonal events that residents value
