Quiet, green, and minutes from the U of M

All neighbourhoods

Fort Richmond is an established south Winnipeg neighbourhood tucked between the Red River and Pembina Highway, just south of the University of Manitoba. Built out mainly from the 1960s through the mid-1980s, it has a settled, leafy feel with mature trees and generous lots, and a friendly mix of long-time homeowners, families, and university staff and students. It's a practical, well-located area rather than a flashy one, valued for its calm streets and easy access to campus and Pembina Highway.

Highlights

  • King's Park, the area's largest green space, with riverside walking paths, a Chinese pagoda garden, sports fields, marshland, and an off-leash dog area
  • Several smaller neighbourhood parks (Dalhousie, Radcliffe, McGill Place and others) plus South Winnipeg Parkway trail access along the Red River
  • Recreation through the South Winnipeg Community Centre (Richmond Kings and Ryerson sites) and the nearby Margaret Grant Pool
  • Shopping, groceries, and dining close at hand along Pembina Highway, including Fort Richmond Plaza
  • Directly next to the University of Manitoba Fort Garry campus, a major draw for families, faculty, and students
